Les Monts du Vaucluse,
located between
Luberon mountains and Ventoux mountains !
The
Mont du Vaucluse regroups small picturesque villages each with their own
specificity.
Located in the heart of a splendid environment that combines hill-sides, forests
and rivers.
Numerous vestiges are present in the heart of this landscape :
The
wall of the plague covering the monts du Vaucluse on a length of more than
25 km made in 1721 on order by the vice-legate to the pope to protect the "comtat
venaissin.
The
Aube wheels was first put in service in the middle east, used to produce energy
in the beginning of the century. There were more than 200 at the end of XIX century.
They were also used in the production of silk.

Fontaine de Vaucluse
Small wonderful land in the heart of the hill-sides.
It's name in Patois : "Vallis Clausa" (the closed valley).
A water spring on top of the village, whose origin (out spring) is still
unknown.
It nourishes a river called "la Sorgue".
This spring with it's green emerald water is classified among the most
important in the world.
It continues to attract the curiosity of millions of people, notably the famous
commander Jacques Cousteau that vigorously searched its out spring - but
in vain.
The second particularity is the eternal magic of love between Petrarque
and Laure, linking France and Italy.
Since then, all lovers come to this river to listen to the strength of their love
symbolized by the bruise and the rapidity of the water stream.
Isle
sur la Sorgue
Also named the ''Venise comtadine''.
The heart of the village is surrounded by the Sorgue.
The channels runs through and around the small pedestrian bridges with Aube
wheels and ducks !
It is also located at the split of the Sorgue.
Isle sur la Sorgue is known all over the world for it's shops and antique market.
It claims a second place just after Paris in terms of it's incredible variety
of wanted art-objects, decorations, etc...
There are more than 350 shops trebling to 1000 in the festive seasons of August
and Easter holidays.
Saumane de Vaucluse
A small village dominated by it's castle, once a property of the Sade family.
Has a most wonderful magic view.
Cabrières d'Avignon
Old vaudois village entirely constructed in dry stone. Here you can find old
"lavoires", fountains and cedar-forests...
Lagnes
Medieval village site on a small hill side between the Mont du Vaucluse and
the valley of the Sorgue.
The rock of Pei offers a remarkable site.

The
provence markets
The most famous is Isle sur la Sorgue, but numerous other like Coustellet, Cavaillon,
Apt, and all of the small villages all have their own market.
Fishing
Due to the water quality the Sorgue offers numerous fish possibilities notably
the Trout. Amateur fly-fishing are welcome ! And if you wish to learn several
tutors are there to help you.
The
descent of the Sorgue in canoe
A very beautiful voyage from the Mont du Vaucluse to Fontaine de Vaucluse down
to l'Isle sur la Sorgue.
Pedestrian
walks
The Mont du Vaucluse are served by the GR 6, GR 91 either by foot or by bike.
The
Country-Club of Provence (Golf)
Situated at Saumane it counts 18 plus nine compact holes. It is located in a magnificent
environment with spectacular views.
