Les Alpilles
named Le Triangle d'Or...
...the
mildness of the landscape and the light stemming from the white rock of the Alpilles
mountain chain.
It contains numerous villages in the purest of provencale tradition
implanted in the wonderful landscape. The contrast of the shapes and the colors
of the Alpilles gives this region a charm echoed by famous writers such as Alphonse
Daudet.

Saint-Rémy
de Provence
At the foot of the Alpilles, the success of Sanit Remy is due to its ancient
street-walks full of charm, it's green valleys with a scent of refined perfume
but also it's beautiful properties restored tastefully.
The countryside of Saint Remy is known through more than 150 art-works of the
painter Vincent Van Gogh.
In the historical center you can find beautiful ancient fountains, small
squares comfortably shadowed with inviting terrace restaurants.
Individual hotels, monasteries, chapels, and sumptuous residences from the XVII
and XVIII centuries.
Since a couple of years, Saint Remy has the pleasure of being host to a part
of world-wide show-biz, artists and celebrities wanting to enjoy the tranquille
atmosphere of Provence.
Les
Baux de Provence
The village of Baux-de-Provence, situated in the heart of the Alpilles with
incomparable charm.
Must see : The site of the castle, the chapel of Saint Blaise that presents
a museum of olives and diapo's of the painters of the land of the olive-tree "Gaugin,
Van Gogh and Cezann" as well as the ruines of Donjon and the defense towers.
In the village : The museum of the "Santons", the hotel of Manville
and it's patio, the hotel of Jean of Brion.
The museum Brayer in the hotel of Porcelet, the chapel of Penitents, decorated
by Yves Brayer, and finally the church Saint Vincent linking roman and gothique
culture.
At the exterior, in the Valley of the Foutain, the Pavilion Renaissance of the
queen Jeanne and the valley of hell.
Must not miss : The impressive sound and lights of the Cathedral with images
projected on the glass-walls.
 Eygalières
Among the most beautiful villages existing in Provence by the quality
of its harmony and the site, attracting artists, painters and big name photographers
since a number of years. You should take time to visit the Chapel of Saint Sixte
on the road to Orgon.
One of the most beautiful views of Eyglieres is offered by access north that reserves
in front the olive trees and village with the Alpilles curtain as background.
Fontvieille
Contains the three most beautiful mills, among others Daudet.
Maussane
les Alpilles
Premier maker of French Olive oil.
You can admire the mills of olive oil, the ancient oratories, the very beautiful
fountains ; the four seasons, the chapel and the castle of Monblan.
The museum of Santons is animated on the road of Saint Remy and Baux.
Mouriès
15 km south-east of Saint-Remy.
Mouriès is the first commune oleicole of France and it's olive oil
is most reputed by it's quality and variety of its taste attributes.
The archeological site of Caisses de Jean-Jean is worth a detour ; as well as
the protestant temple, the church Saint Jacques and the oratories.
Numerous castles and old mas/properties in the neighborhood.

The Alpilles is a paradise for mountain-walkers, with hundreds of kilometers of
indicated walks with different degree of difficulty at your disposal to better
profit from the panorama.

Not far from Camargue, horses are also abundant in the Alpilles and is a faster
way to discover the small street-walks.
